Virgen de la Paloma Madrid
The Virgen de la Paloma is a Marian devotion of Madrid (Spain). Although she is not the official patron saint of the town, she is traditionally considered the ‘popular patron saint of the people of Madrid’, and has enjoyed great devotion, being commemorated on 15 August. The annual Fiestas de la Paloma are held in her honour and are very traditional. This tradition dates back to the end of the 18th century. The image of the Virgin is a canvas instead of the traditional carving. The painting is in the centre of an altarpiece located in the parish church of the Virgen de la Paloma y de San Pedro el Real, located at Calle de la Paloma no. 19, in the La Latina neighbourhood.
