“On September 27, 2025, Roma Pride Day was held at Budapest’s Pope John Paul II Square, with speakers focusing on protesting the controversial self-identification law and calling for a national memorial day for the victims of the 2008–2009 anti-Roma murders. The event featured political and local representatives, activists, and cultural figures, highlighting both the challenges faced by the Roma community and the pride in their cultural contributions. Participants emphasized the importance of dignity, equality, and recognition of Roma heritage in Hungary.”
